Message from the Chairman.
17/01/08
To members of Carlton Park Ladies Hockey ClubHalf way through the season and we have 32 players for the 1st and 2nd team and new this year, we have 15 players entering the U17 league. We also run an indoor team during the winter and enter summer leagues.
The 1st team wish to promote this year and are in a strong position. This good standard of play needs to continue to the last game!
The 2nds are also in a position where, if they have a good run of games, they could be at the top of the table.
The Carlton Park Ladies Hockey Club Committee met last night and wish me to remind players that the Thursday training sessions have been set up for the 1st, 2nd and U17 to attend.
Both the senior teams need to spend more time playing together and practising routines for defence and attack.
We understand that some players are involved in other sports and also do gym training, however, there is always the need to undertake hockey specific fitness and skills enhancement training.
Nikki has agreed to divide the training sessions into U17 and seniors, each with half of the pitch for their own specific training. There will also be joint fitness and practice games, as the U17 need to learn from the more experienced players.
We are also exploring an earlier start for the U17 on the training evenings but this will increase are pitch hire costs.
If we as a club which to do our best, players need to spend more playing time together. I am therefore asking all players to make every effort to attend training.
If you are unable to attend on Thursday 24th Jan 7-15pm please send your apologies to either, Denise or Becky so that Nikki knows how many to plan for. (Please bear in mind that Nikki does spend time planning and preparing the sessions, assisted by Marion and others.)
I hope to see you there.
In conclusion I also need to remind players that we play in the Indoor League and Julia needs commitment from players to ensure that an appropriate team is put out against the opposition. When playing Ipswich A team we need to put out our very best team. Please support Julia and let her know your availability. If we cannot put out a regular strong team for the rest of the season we will not be entering the Indoor League next year.
On a lighter note we are ordering jackets, see Becky, and planning the end of season event, a presentation evening, a Go Ape type activity and looking at venues for the Xmas Party. If you want to know more and get involved in the planning please see your captain or Mel.
Best Wishes
