Carlton Park I 10 v Sudbury III 0

Park started the game very positively and scored their first goal inside the first minute when a free hit by Kirsty Marshall found the unmarked Vicky Le Fanu who had the simple task of slotting the ball into the goal. Park moved the ball well and continued to add pressure on the visitor’s defence. Park quickly added their second when Sarah Whatling’s shot soundly beat the keeper. Some good work by the midfield of Justine Howe, Roo Mackie and Wendy Corneby saw them distribute the ball well with the defence of Kirsty Marshall, Kerry Whatling, Mercedes Buckle and Emma Tuckwell hemming the Sudbury forwards into their half of the pitch. Denise Manning then added her name to the score sheet when a penalty corner was fed out to her and her shot into the corner of the goal beat the keeper. Park had found their rhythm and Roo Mackie and Lynn Whittingstall linked well on the left and fed the ball to the advancing attackers. Park’s fourth goal was scored by Justine Howe who’s silky touch guided the ball past the stranded keeper. Again from the push back Park immediately closed down the opposition and another break saw Lynn Whittingstall nicely positioned on the left post deflect the ball into the net. Vicky Le Fanu scored the last goal of the half when some excellent stick work saw her beat the goalie and slot home.

With the rolling subs working well Park kept up their domination and immediately attacked the defence of Sudbury. They were awarded several short corners and their persistence in changing the formation of these paid off with Sarah Whatling’s strike comfortably beating the keeper. Tori Walton then added her name to the score sheet when some excellent stick work by herself saw her get into the ‘d’ and her powerful strike of the ball was well placed into the corner of the goal. Sarah Whatling then completed her hat rick when again she was found in the ‘d’ and her shot powered past the keeper. Park finished their scoring when some good work by Lynn Whittingstall saw her pass the ball to Sarah Whatling who found Vicky Le Fanu who worked the ball past the keeper and coolly guided the ball into the net to complete the second hat trick of the day. An excellent team performance with Karen Fletcher hardly troubled in goal and again well protected by the defence in front of her.
