Park again with a strong squad of 14 players and a good warm up under their belt started this game strongly and immediately closed down the opposition from the first whistle. They moved the ball well and found acres of space in midfield. They opened the scoring when Sarah Whatling’s shot found the back of the net. This settled Park and they continued to dominate. Vicky Le Fanu scored the second when she latched onto a cross which wrong footed the goalie. Park kept up the pressure and were then awarded a penalty corner. The initial shot was saved but the ball came out to Mel Rodwell whose shot found the corner of the goal. Lynn Whittingstall’s continuous running caused problems to the opposition and her hard work was rewarded when a shot by Denise Manning was deflected in by Lynn. The Park defence was solid and the midfield finding space to move the ball around. Sarah Whatling scored her second goal to finish the scoring for the first half.

With the rolling subs working well Park again started the second half dominating the play. Emma Tuckwell pushed up well from defence and added support going forward. Sarah Whatling opened the scoring in the second half with a well taken goal. From the whistle Park again closed their opponents down and pushed forward. A good cross by Vicky Le Fanu was stopped by Denise Manning in the ‘d’ and her shot went between the goalies legs. Lynn Whittingstall added her second when some good work in front of goal saw her push the ball over the line. Justine Howe then added her name to the score sheet when a penalty corner was passed out short and the ball was drilled towards the far post where Justine was at hand to deflect the ball into the net. The final goal came after some skilful stick work from Tori Walton saw her finish in style. Another excellent team performance with Karen Fletcher having to make her first save of the season. Not such a good day for the rat though!!
