Felixstowe I 0 v Carlton Park I 10
20/09/08
Hello everyone and welcome back.Felixstowe could only field 9 players against a very strong Carlton Park squad so Park knew they would have plenty of space to move the ball around. It took them a while to get into the rhythm but they opened the scoring when Sarah Whatling slotted home. Park put the home side’s defence under constant pressure but some excellent saves from Felixstowe’s keeper kept them in the game. Park added their second goal when a quick free hit was connected well in the ‘d’ by Emma Tuckwell and bundled over the line by Denise Manning. Park started to settle down now and added a third goal when some good stick work by Tory Walton saw her round the defender and slot in under the advancing keeper. Park kept up the pressure and Karen Fletcher in goal was a mere spectator. Justine Howe and Vicky Le Fanu linked well on the right and drew the defenders out with their quick passing. But the final ball into the ‘d’ was too close to the keeper.
In the second half Park picked up the pace and pinned the home side’s defence back in their own half. Kerry Whatling tracked back well when Felixstowe had a quick break and got her tackle in and then cleared the ball. Wendy Corneby had acres of space on the left hand side and she linked up well with Vicky Le Fanu who had now switched to the left. Sarah Whatling added the fourth goal with a shot into the corner of the goal. Wendy Corneby added her name to the score sheet when the keeper was drawn out of position and Wendy was at hand to slot home. Roo Mackie scored next when an excellent pass from the right was dummied by Wendy Corneby and Roo Mackie pounced scoring in dramatic fashion. Park kept moving the ball well around the field and Lynn Whittingstall’s bursting runs caused the home side problems. Park where then awarded a penalty stroke but unfortunately Kirsty Marshall hit the post. The seventh goal came from a penalty corner. It was passed short to Denise Manning who had enough time to line up her shot and scored from an acute angle. Sarah Whatling added a couple more goals before Vicky Le Fanu closed the scoring when she nudged the ball over the line.
