Carlton Park II 15 v Felixstowe II 1

Park started the match feeling confident knowing that Felixstowe were short on numbers. We made a positive start putting pressure on the Felixstowe team from the beginning and it wasn’t long before Tracey sent a clean powerful shot hard onto the backboard. Park kept the pressure on and a further 2 goals along with a number of missed chances followed shortly after. The defence were not left without anything to do and when the Felixstowe attack broke through they put pressure on early and managed to keep a clean sheet during the first half with some help from a few good saves by Kirsty in goal. The defence made some good moves among themselves creating spaces and feeding the ball forward to the midfield and attack. Further pressure lead to Park being awarded a series of penalty corners one of which was converted. Another goal before half time meant the half time score was 5-0.

Vince’s half time team talk was ‘Goals, goals, goals! Keep going, it will count at the end of the season’ Despite this, straight after half time Park momentarily got complacent and let a keen Felixstowe attack break through the defence and score. Park soon got back on track and Kathy and Sally worked well in defence looking to get the ball up to mid-field. A lot of space on the pitch meant it was easy to get the ball through to the forwards and Tracey made the most of this, scoring further goals. Park had a number of further chances of which some were converted including Sarah getting on the score sheet for the first time (in 15 years!). Park played well and worked as a team moving for the ball and creating chances however will need to keep this up for next week against what is likely to be a stronger side from IES. The final score was 15-1
